A woman lost to her family. A woman lost to herself.

Come along to Riverbend on Wednesday August 28th at 6.30pm to help us celebrate the release of Saving Grace by Erica McWilliam.

Dr Michael Dwyer and Dr Mark Cryle will be on hand to help Erica launch her book, a story of vulnerability and sisterhood.

Power, Bruno Latour tells us, is the accumulation of allies from one unique moment to the next. But can we recognise the uniqueness of a lived moment, and how do we know who among our family and friends will be of most support when we are at our most vulnerable? In her new biography, Saving Grace, Erica McWilliam probes vulnerability and sisterhood in her Australian family’s past. Told by her mother, with prim reluctance, thatherGreat Aunty Grace went insane when her fiancé married her younger sister, Erica seeks to know the truth.

What really happened to Grace and why? The book unfolds the family story just as Erica discovered it, piece by forensic piece, blending evidence taken from historical and medical records with contemporary psychiatric opinion to produce a compelling account of vulnerability and unconditional sisterly love in the life of Grace Clement Baynes.
